Moving to a new city part 2

It’s the morning after ?? Dont worry family and friends I didn’t get up to anything naughty last night but I did meet up with a bunch of strangers for cocktails and I enjoyed it so much!

If you’ve moved to new city recently you obviously understand how hard it is to create a genuine social life. A majority of the time it’s easier to stay at home and be in your comfort zone. However for me I had been at home by myself for the past 3 weeks since my partner in crime jetted of to another country to visit her family.  This is great for her and in the beginning it was great for me because living alone gives you the chance to reflect on life, create your own routine and sort out priorities. But afterwhile being responsible sucked and I just wanted to make friends.

On monday I was feeling so drained and ill, the sun was shining and I knew once  I recovered I was going to need to get social, if that meant having few drinks or going clubbing I was up for it. My partner in crime had told me about this website where you meet people if you’re new to the city but I was very unsure about this because im not an online meet up with a stranger type of person! I decided to research “meet up” and to my surprise it was designed  specifically for socialising and it had different social groups which included: Cocktails with the girls, 20’s-30s meet up, movie marathon, single & dating, shisha club and many more. All of these different groups had information on what to expect and pictures of everyone so I knew it was legit and safe. On thursday I noticed a group that was just for girls that was meeting up later on in the evening for cocktails.  That was an option I was not going to miss.

As I started doing more research I saw this urban dance class that was from 6pm to 8:45pm which was the same time as the cocktails meet up and I thought hmmm maybe it would be more beneficial for me to socialise in a dance class where I could share the same passion for dance as those attending. I also started thinking about the money in which I would spend on drinking could be used for the dance class, that way I would be burning calories guilt free and as an actress I think dance is an important skill to learn. Finally I decided to get dressed nicely and head out to meet the girls for a good time. I wont discuss too much about the night out. But the moral of the story is that you need to get out there and start talking to people. It’s not guaranteed that you’re gonna meet you soul sister or best friend but it’s a start. Especially if you wanna take over the town and be a socialite. It’s your chance to start fresh and be who you’ve always wanted to be with no judgement. This was a major step for me and I will update you more often on my journey. For the last week I had writers block so things have been slow but im getting there.13161982_10154221006800972_2053918799_n.jpgMy Pina Colada mocktail

I was 16 and going to upper secondary school when I moved to a new city. If there wouldn’t be school – I think it might have been harder me to make new friends. I rarely go anywhere, most of my friends here are from school or work so haha 😀 or friends with my fiancé.

  7. Ahh..your post reminded me of the time I moved to a big cosmopolitan city. Born and brought up in small town that was a daunting move. Though difficult, full of hiccups, I gradually made my place and found my small world in the big city. Still remember the time spent in Mumbai. Those were the best days of my life.

  9. What a great way to meet new people, and way to go that you took that step and put yourself out there! Not sure if I would have had the confidence to do that.

  10. Good for you for getting out there! And your outfit is so adorable, too! 🙂

Glad you had fun. If you aren’t feeling at home just yet, don’t worry… it’ll come in time. 🙂 I moved to LA a couple of years ago… I couldn’t afford to stay, but I felt that utter loneliness for the first year, then like *that* it just suddenly went away. I was a Cali girl. The same will happen for you, probably sooner, in your new city.
