Dream Killers come in different shapes, genders and forms! They can be the closest person to you or not. The one thing they have in common is putting you down.

Concerned people VS Dream Killers

Darlings there is totally a thin line between dream killers and concerned people. In my opinion a concerned person knows you fairly well and has experienced life to an extent where they want the best for you and want you to make smart decisions regarding your future and career path. They  often advise you and help you explore your options. This can sometimes come across very annoying because it seems as though they don’t have faith in your vision . Although this concerned phase doesn’t really last long. Once you’ve convince them that you have a plan and  goal in mind they start to back off. They are not the most actively supportive people in the world, they may share a Facebook post of yours but that’s it.  Overall their intentions are pure but can come across hurtful.

Dreams Killers in my opinion, do not have a close connection/ relationship with you as much as they like to think they do. Notice that they ask you so much questions about your career seeming like they’re concerned but they don’t actually support you. They don’t encourage you, advise you on your dream, they don’t see your shows, they don’t share your posts! In fact the moment you’re feeling low and ask for advice. They’re ever so attentive and they listen ever so sweetly and the moment your feeling positive again they use everything you said in the previous conversation to pull you back down again.

“Rebecca remember when you said that you go through career phases? This is probably one of them. Maybe you should get a full time job like your sister,  your sister is doing so well. Remember when you told me your sister is doing so well. Dont you wanna do well ?”

These dream killers tend to underestimate your talent or potential to actually book gigs or auditions and when you do they are totally shocked and they just kinda proudly say “I knew you could do it”
Dream Killers are so negative! Some of them may not put you down directly but best believe every conversation with you is about how f**ked up their life is.

Beware: Dream Killers are easy to spot when it’s just one person because they come across as jealous or a hater. But when it comes to family or a group of friends or colleagues it’s harder to notice them as  individuals because they often gang up and make you the butt of the joke.

Transform: You can transform a dream killer because they are just negative people who didn’t follow their dreams when they had the chance. They are jealous of your fearless courageous out look in life. You can use all that negative energy to fuel your motivation and prove to them that with or without them you will make it 🙂 Unless you get an illness but even then your mentality would be different compared to  bums who are too afraid to live life.

‘Your self-worth is determined by you. You don’t have to depend on someone telling you who you are.’ Beyonce

‘Don’t settle for average. Bring your best to the moment. Then, whether it fails or succeeds, at least you know you gave all you had. We need to live the best that’s in us.’ Angela Bassett
‘If you TRY, and you just BELIEVE, you CAN; you WILL.’ Hayden Panettiere

Chase your dreams. xxxxx
